In a major operation along the India-Nepal border, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel, along with officers from the Teliari Border Outpost (BOP), seized 200 kilograms of cannabis. The drugs were found hidden in a pile of paddy straw near the Sonna Brick Kiln area, located along the Border Security Road, near Jogbani, Bihar. The total estimated market value of the cannabis is between ₹40 lakh and ₹50 lakh.
The cannabis was concealed in large black plastic packets, which were uncovered after the straw was removed. The discovery was part of a coordinated effort by SSB personnel who had received intelligence about a drug consignment being smuggled from Nepal into India. Following this information, SSB increased patrols in the area, leading to the seizure.
Pashupati Kumar Singh, the In-charge of the Jogbani SSB camp, confirmed that the cannabis was seized during heightened border security operations. After the drugs were recovered, the cannabis was handed over to the local police for further processing. The investigation is ongoing, with efforts to identify those involved in the smuggling operation.
